Tree Maintenance

Tree Bracing, Tree Fertilization Service in Oakville

Trees are beautiful additions to any space, indoor or outdoor, and part of that beauty is that they are living things. That also means they have constant needs and their growth patterns mean that they are changing all the time which in turn means that simply leaving them to it or ignoring their requirements is not the way to get the best from your trees. We have maintenance packages for all budgets and all scales of tree maintenance so whether you’re looking for a helping hand now and again to see your trees right, or a regular presence keeping them the way you want and training them to look just how you, your family, or your customers expect then get in touch and let’s talk maintenance.

Watering

Watering a tree might not seem like a priority but if you have a lot of trees, or your trees are in planters or indoors then you may not be sure just how much water they need. That amount varies from one variety to the next so we will need to see just what trees you have before advising you so while there are rough figures often quoted, such as ten gallons per inch of the trunk diameter, that’s only an estimate. New or replanted trees, for example, need considerably more water than mature trees. We can advise you on just how often trees should be watered and where you want us to we can arrange to provide that service for you.

Mulching

Mulching is probably the best single thing you can do to protect and encourage the growth of trees, particularly if they’re only a few years old, and yet so many well-meaning but amateur gardeners get it wrong. The purpose of mulch is to create a ring around the trunk that prevents competition from the grass so piling it high and up against the trunk itself is missing the point and can be counterproductive. We use the best mulch made from organic wood chips to ensure that the mulch doesn’t accidentally result in unwanted chemicals being applied to the soil right where it will affect the tree most. Properly applied mulch provides a layer over three inches deep and extends to a four-foot diameter around the tree. Let us apply the mulch your trees need, when they need it, and how they need it.

Pest and Disease Control

Rot and fungi are the commonest tree disease problems but there are others specific to each species and a hose of boring pests that can try to make their home in your trees. Let us check for pests and diseases and deal with both before they can make any inroads.

Wintering

‘But we’re in Georgia’ - we hear you say, and that means we’re not expecting snow and frost. True, but there’s more to preparing a tree for winter than protecting it against cold. This is the dormant season for growth so as well as clearing up fallen leaves that may impact grass growth it is the right time to fertilize appropriately, prune for better growth when Spring comes, and generally tidy up your trees.
