Stump Rot

Without the tree to supply all that life support from leaves and sap the stump and roots will start the decomposition process. While that’s normally fine and the stump will gently rot back into the soil it sometimes goes wrong and the stump becomes a home for disease or parasites that then attack living trees or platnts in the yard.
